Evernote releases Evernote 11The first major version update of the note-taking app in nearly five years. The release incorporates a large number of background changes made over the past two years and adds three new AI-powered features that impact the way notes are found, summarized, and created.
Evernote 11 retains the core structure of the app. Notes, tasks, and organizational tools work as before, but with new AI components placed on top. The update is positioned as a functional change rather than a redesign of the way users store information.
One of the main additions is AI assistant. The feature appears as a chat-style panel inside Evernote and allows users to ask questions about their existing content. It can summarize longer notes, surface related entries, and pull together information in notebooks and tasks. The Assistant also supports basic web searches from within the app. Evernote says this feature was developed in collaboration with OpenAI.
Another change affects search behavior. Semantic search replaces strict keyword matching with natural language queries. Instead of having to remember the exact words used in a note, users can describe what they’re looking for and get results based on meaning rather than phrases. It applies to all notebooks and works with long or loosely defined queries.
The third AI feature focuses on meetings. ai meeting notes Can record and transcribe conversations from in-person or online meetings, locate multiple speakers, and generate summaries that include key points and action items. The resulting output is saved directly as a note, eliminating the need to transfer transcripts between apps or services.
Everyone AI feature Can be enabled or disabled individually via new settings. The AI assistant is available on desktop and web. According to Evernote, semantic search and AI meeting notes are supported on desktop, web, and mobile platforms.
In addition to AI, Evernote 11 includes a set of general changes to editing, navigation, and content capture. Evernote hasn’t listed all of these individually, but described them as refinements based on the steady stream of updates sent out during development of version 11. The syncing, performance, and reliability improvements from those updates are now considered part of the new baseline.
The update also introduces a refreshed visual design. Evernote has adjusted some parts of the interface and designed a new logo. The layout remains familiar, but visual elements have been modernized to align with the new release.
Evernote says work on version 11 almost started two years ago. Instead of sending out a single major update at first, the company continued to release incremental improvements and added them to this version along with new AI features.
