It is based on Debian 13 tricks. A few days ago, I wrote about LMDE 7 dropping support for 32-bit computers, this is only 64-bit, as i386 is no longer fully supported by Debian 13. I also mentioned that a beta version of Dystro would be released soon. Well, it is now here.
These are system requirements for Linux Mint Debian version 7.
- 2 GB RAM (4 GB recommended)
- 20 GB disc space (100 GB recommended)
- 1024 × 768 resolution
They are similar to the requirements of the regular version of Linux Mint. What is new in LMDE 7, well, it ships with the improvements offered in Linux Mint 22.2. To know about new features in this, you can read my previous coverage. This includes a redisign sticky notes app with round corners, support for fingerprint authentication for login, curb command, etc. The subject is also a little blue. You also want to see Debian 13 release notes,
LMDE 7 supports OEM install to allow computer manufacturers to ship their system with distro. Developers are making changes in Libdawait -1.7 in Libdawaait -1.5. Since it is a long -term support release (LTS), you can expect to support it for a few years. Debian 13 LTS will be supported by June 30, 2030.
Is it interested in trying Lmde 7 beta? Head for Official declaration page To download ISO. He said, there are some known issues with release, you can read about those and workarounds Issue note page,
It is not clear when the final version will be released, but given the fact that the first beta is out, and the fact that the Linux Mint will be released in 22.3 December 2025, the final version of LMDE 7 may not be far away.
Note: I have not tried LMDE 7. But Linux Mint 22.2 is my primary OS, so feel free to ask questions about it.
Thanks for reading..
