Someone is developing a Windows-to-Linux migration tool | Free Download

Millions of PC users who run Windows 10 on their devices can not upgrade their devices to Windows 11 due to strict system requirements. Microsoft deliberately introduced the cut, well knowing that it will affect a large number of customers.

With Windows 10 support out in a few months, and a year update expands the only official option to prolong the life of the device, it is Microsoft that is forcing its customers’ hands. Microsoft wants customers buy new Windows 11 PCs with AI features, but what if Windows 10 PC works perfectly?

There are other ways to live on Windows 10 and stay relatively safe, such as subscribing of micro-patch that promises to be released by at least 2030 for a 0Patch operating system.

Linux is another option, but it is still seen as a system for users who know their ways around the tech and do not object to using much. While Linux has traveled a long way, migrating into Linux is still a difficult task for many Windows users.

Enter Project Operation

I never understood why the Linux community does not see the end of Windows 10 as a major occasion. A tool will definitely be highly appreciated to help users migrate, similarly how Microsoft released a device to transfer files and settings in the latest Windows 11 version from the old version of Windows.

Then I discovered the project operation, and it seems the tool that I wanted to support the entire Linux community.

Simply put, it is a device to transfer data from Windows device to Linux. The developer claims that it moves files, programs and settings. Perhaps not all programs, perhaps only those who are cross-platforms.

The main negative side at this point is that the equipment is not yet available. One more that it only supports migration in Kubuntu. If you imagine another Linux distribution, you will not be able to use the equipment after release. Future versions may support other Linux distribution, but in the beginning, it is only Kubuntu that you get.

Nevertheless, it is better than nothing and is based on Kubuntu Ubuntu, which remains a popular option when talking about Linux.

So, the main warning is that the equipment has not yet been released. The developer says that the device will be released as an open source in “The Coming months”. It was early in July, so it was expected as soon as possible in August or late September.

Nevertheless, it is a great idea that can help Windows 10 users to transfer to Linux to use their reliable Windows 10 tools that Microsoft has been officially giving them officially than extra years.

I will monitor the project and review the migration tool, once (if) it is released.

Now you: Will you use migration tools from Windows to Linux, if it will be released? Let me know in the comments below. (Through Nevin,
