Spotify is rolling a series of updates, especially to premium users, to enhance the user experience. One of the notable characteristics that has been announced is the ’30-day snooze ‘option.
This new feature allows listeners to temporarily hide a song from their recommendations for a month, addressing the user’s response to the trend of the platform, suggesting the same track in a playlist such as the Discover Weekly and Smart Shuffle.
Premium users can tap on the ’30-day snooze ‘option, which can be accessed with a three-dot menu next to a song, and “don’t suggest this song anywhere for 30 days.” This provides a temporary recurrence, instead of completely removing a song from someone’s library, and helps users to find music that they may like. Spotify has also improved the ‘hiding’ facility, when a song is hidden, it will be hidden in all the devices associated with the user account. Spotify says This can bring snooze button to other listeners in the future.
Apart from these reforms, Spotify has also made several other updates in its app. Users now have the option to disable the smart shuffle facility. The app has received some new shortcuts that can be accessed with the queue button, including essential functions such as shuffle, smart shuffle, sleep timer and repeat. Recommended songs that will play further will appear at the end of the queue, and users can choose to remove unwanted tracks before playing.
Playlists have some new options: Add, sort and edit the track list, which can be used to replace the playlist title, create a custom cover art and sequence each song. Spot users in US, Canada, UK, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand and South Africa, can use these options to quickly make playlists.
