Steam is testing a redesigned store menu, search and recommendations | Free Download

Steam is testing a re -designed layout for its store in the beta version of its desktop client. The valve states that users are part of its efforts to help users search for new games.

When you click on the search bar of the steam, it does nothing. Well, this is what is changing. The beta version of the search panel displays games that are popular.

Steam new search panel recommendations

It lists an option for your recently seen games, top styles (which you played), and advanced search with custom filters (this is only steam search page). Some users may not like to see recommendations, and there are no options to configure behavior.

The valve is also changing the way to display the link in the left column of the home page and the blue navigation menu bar, merging the contents of both.

Steam new navigation bar home page

The browse tab at the top displays shortcuts for various sections such as top vendors, discounts and events, new release, free play, demo. It also tells you how many games have been left from your wish list at present. On the right of this banner, you can find steam charts, upcoming release, points shop, gift card, news and updates and preferences.

Steam new recommendations tab bar

Steam’s recommendations tabs list games that you may like, while the category menu is individual based on your activity, it shows tags for styles you are interested in. Other tabs are shortcuts for hardware (steam deck, docking station), playing methods (deck, remote play, VR, controller-friendly, co-op), and more (Demos, DLC, DLC)

To test the new layout, you have to join the steam client beta. To do this, open the steam app on your computer, click on Settings> Interface> Client Beta Partnership> Steam beta update.

Re: Steam Store menu is the menu Available in the latest beta Version of desktop client. This is not special for Windows, it is available on Linux and McOS.

Steam recently introduced a new in-game performance monitor, which enables protons by default on Linux, accessibility settings for big picture mode.

Do you find a new search panel useful to find new games, or do you find the recommendations annoying?

Thanks for reading..
