Telegram has released a new update to its mobile apps, which brings a refreshed interface for Android, visual refinements for iOS, and some new features. The Android version gets a new liquid glass design, the iOS comes with an updated media viewer. There are also some new elements, including NFT-like “collectibles.” Here’s what’s changing on the Telegram app.
Telegram for Android is based on the Liquid Glass redesign

The Telegram interface change with the new update is the biggest arrival to Android devices. Telegram says it has reworked the app’s interface code to improve navigation speed and responsiveness through the Liquid Glass design.
One of the most noticeable changes is the new bottom navigation bar that many iOS users are accustomed to. This bar makes it easy to switch between chats, settings, and profile sections without relying on layered menus.
Telegram also added updated interface effects. For users concerned about battery life or visual intensity, these can be adjusted under Settings > Power Saving.
Sometimes during the update phase, Telegram may lag and stop working. We have an article that shows you how to fix it.
iOS receives more “Liquid Glass” elements
Although the Android update is more dramatic, iPhone users have not been forgotten. iOS apps now include additional Liquid Glass design elements, Apple’s updated visual language introduced with iOS 26.
Telegram for iOS changes include:
- A redesigned media viewer
- Updated sticker and emoji pack preview panel
- Refined context menu when selecting messages within a profile
The changes aren’t huge, but continue to push Telegram toward a more modern, system-aligned look.
Transfer Telegram group chat to new administrator

Telegram has also introduced a practical new administrative feature for group chats.
If a group owner leaves the chat, ownership will automatically transfer to one of the existing administrators after a week. Alternatively, the departing owner can manually appoint a new administrator before exiting.
Admins can transfer ownership at any time—even without leaving the group—making management more flexible for larger communities.
Telegram bots get a visual upgrade
Bot developers now have the option to add colors and emojis to bot buttons. Although this isn’t a major structural change, it does make the bot interface easier to read and navigate at a glance.
Telegram iPad shortcut for faster messaging
For Telegram users on iPad, there’s a small but welcome increase in productivity:
command + enter Now sends messages instantly.
You can now “craft” gifts in Telegram
Perhaps the most unusual addition to this update is the expansion of Telegram’s digital gifts system.
Telegram previously allowed users to send virtual giftSome of which can be upgraded into collectible, NFT-like items. With this update, users can now “create” new gifts by combining four existing gifts.
The crafting system introduces rarity levels:
- unusual
- Rare
- epic
- Famous
Although the feature relies heavily on collectibles and market mechanics (something not traditionally associated with messaging apps), it shows Telegram’s continued experimentation with in-app economies.
Overall, this update adds improvements along with more experimental features. The interface changes and admin tools will immediately impress most app users, while the collectible crafting system may be of interest to a more niche audience.
If Telegram is your primary chat app, you may notice the new design and features in the coming days.
