Microsoft is ending support for its Windows 10 operating system in October 2025. This time limit has not changed and while Windows 10 can migrate to Windows 11 more or less in Windows 11, millions of devices cannot.

The main reason for this is that Windows updates close the devices that do not meet the Windows 11 system requirements. Microsoft says that customers should get a new PC and with it Windows 11 and preferably all AI features that the company has crank in the last one year.

Users have some other options, including paying Microsoft for one year support. Using Windows 10 without safety updates is out of question for most users.

People who buy a new PC face another problem: How do you move your data from old PC to new? The manual option is a time consuming, as this involves copying files through secondary storage or installed network connections. This may also include restoring apps when supported and re -establishing configuration from one PC to another.

Microsoft Windows is working on integrating a migration tool in the backup application. The backup app was launched in 2023 to back up some data on the cloud storage solution of ONEDRIVE, Microsoft for users.

Unlike traditional backup systems, which give users the option to backup the files, folders, or the entire drive, the solution of Microsoft focuses only at very specific locations.

Windows users can use it to backup some folders, documents, videos, or pictures -credentials, settings and some apps.

Both PCs should be on the same network. As another precaution, verification is required to start the process.

Microsoft is clearly expected that it will push more customers that they need to step into Windows 11.

As far as the scope of the transfer tool is concerned, it is also limited. Although this may be enough for some users, others may prefer commercial equipment to migrate data from one Windows PC to another. You can check out PC Mover, Zinstal Or todo pctrans, if you want to find out those options.
