Microsoft has announced a limited public preview of its on-demand Emergency Cloud PC Service, Windows 365 Reserve. It goes without saying that it is not for individual users, such as you and me.
This cloud-based platform is designed to reduce work disruptions due to cyber attacks, system downtime or other problems in the workplace. The service should not be confused with Windows 365, which is a completely cloud-based PC.
The Windows 365 reserves, as the name suggests, is not designed for long -term use. It gives users up to 10 days of cloud PC access per year. This is basically 10 days of downtime. Cloud platform ID admins will allow cloud PC to deploy on-demand with all Microsoft 365 Apps, Microsoft Intune policies and default by default by the organization’s safety posture. Admins can manage cloud PC within Microsoft Intune. They will receive information when the user’s cloud PC access is over.
When deployed, the final users will be able to reach the cloud PC from any device, whether it is managed or unabated, even on individual devices, if their organization’s policies allow it. The last users can use the Windows 365 Reserve through the web browser, or using the Windows app. Cloud will provide a complete desktop experience based on the resources of the PC organization.
Microsoft says The Windows 365 Reserve is currently in the Gate Public Preview, Enterprises must submit a form to participate in the program. Microsoft suggests that even a single tool failure can cause a chain-effect in an outfit, which can cause disruption of productivity, delay delivery, affect IT teams, and affect thousands of employees. This is a serious picture, but it is a possibility.
Last year’s Crowdastric Outage showed us how things could stop working quickly, and it affected millions of computers worldwide. Windows 365 Reserve provides an interesting approach, IT teams can focus on fixing the problem affecting their environment, while employees continue to function normally.
