works if you hold them upside down. the metal in the chain interferes with them unless you hold them upside down. there are numbers going around the circle to make it easier to use. 1: align North with North on the map 2. place compass on map where you are and find number that points in direction to go 3. in real life look in that direction for a land mark to go to 4. at land mark look at same number on compass again to find next landmark and repeat until you’re there
