Microsoft has updated the screen capturing app several times in the past years to increase its functionality. Back to 2022, Microsoft added video capturing functionality. The latest test version of the snipping tool still supports another feature, one that has disappeared from the app so far because Microsoft has initiated support to capture the video: the ability to capture a program window.
So far, your only option is to pull a rectangle on the screen that is inside. This is a useful feature, but it is not very versatile, as you cannot modify the size of the recording area nor move it around after starting it, when you have activated the Start Capture button.
